GALLUP STRENGTHS
the tool
The Gallup CliftonStrengths Assessment (formally StrengthsFinder) measures the specific order of 34 talent themes. This talent DNA explains the unique ways individuals accomplish goals by building relationships, thinking strategically, executing plans, and influencing others. This tool is at the root of my work as Your Strengths Advisor.
Gallup research finds that people who know and use their CliftonStrengths are:
More engaged at work | More productive in their role | Happier and healthier
a new way of thinking
Using a strengths-based approach is different than what we have all experienced in our growth. Conventional methods to improve tell us to focus on fixing weaknesses and, essentially, to be being good at everything. This simply is not possible. In fact, we end up spending double our time correcting areas of weakness in order to achieve overall mediocrity.
Strengths-based approaches to personal and professional development identify areas of strength and encourage us to invest in those areas to build expertise in them.
Why is it important to know our strengths? Once we know and understand our talents, we can shape our lives around them, welcoming in success and happiness.
What about our weaknesses? We do not have weaknesses, rather talents that we are less-dominant in. It’s important to acknowledge where these gaps are - not so we work on them, rather so we can identify people who excel in them to create strategic, strengths-based partnerships.
what to expect
Whether you are at a point of transition, looking for growth, or simply taking time for personal development, let your strengths guide you.
As Your Strengths Advisor, I will invest in bringing your talents to life. Based on your intentions and the personalized roadmap we build, our sessions will move through these three phases of understanding your strengths.
The first step of strengths advisory is having a solid understanding of your strengths and how they lend to your career.
The second step of strengths advisory is exploring the people and environment within your organization and how/if they bring out the best in you.
The third step of strengths advisory is understanding and reaching your potential by modifying what is in your control.
strengths overview
Your strengths profile is unique to who you are. In fact, your chances of meeting someone with the same Top 5 in the same order is 1 in 33.4 MILLION!
The Gallup strengths assessment tests for 34 specific talents. Your results will number these strengths 1-34 based on their intensity, with the strongest talent at number one. The power of each talent is based on your personal journey and investment in them.
While we may experience subtle shifts in our strengths throughout our lives and careers, we tend to retain many of the same ones over time.
The 34 talents that are evaluated belong to 4 Strength Domains: Executing, Influencing Relationship Building, and Strategic Thinking.
